Now you've got something to die for

Time for the weekly update, methinks. Its been a pretty cool week, not suprising considering how school just finished. Last friday was a party in the fields, and I got very drunk on Jack Daniels and coke. Apart from that, it was a pretty tame evening. Everyone was bit laid back, having just finished school. The stupid event of the evening was when i managed to get stupidly lost after walking kate home, and then had to ask for directions from some random middle aged men. Good fun. It took me about an hour to get back to the fields, by which point nearly everyone had left. I sat around with the remaining people for a bit, before heading home at about 1. Saturday a few people came round mine, and we watched family guy, south park and played halo, which was pretty cool. Sunday I spent at home, watched Lost In Translation on Film Four (I am ecstatic at Film Four now being free). And since sunday every night has been spent round sauls. Monday and tuesday was nice and laid back, just a couple of beers and chatting. But last night was the first big party of the summer. And this morning sauls house is, to quote saul himself "messed up. stinks". There was a lot of drinking, one person throwing up EVERYWHERE. But it was all good really. I got hit in the head with a can which john the stupid german threw, and that hurt a fair bit. But apart from that the evening rocked, I even got to carry dean down the garden and throw him in a bush. I did pay for drinking this morning, as my peanut butter sandwich came right back up. But I'm ok now, pretty much. And I'm off to italy in an hour or so. See you all in a few weeks!

Tonight is empty of warm glows and whispered good nights

You know what scares the shit out of me? When I'm listening to music and think "aw man, I really wanna hear *insert song", and then that song comes on next. Makes me think my computer read my mind, which means I am defiently spending too much time on the computer. Anyway, on with the post. Its too hot to think and do a full post, so you'll just have to make do.Last weekend was spent in the fields, as is customary in summer, friday was just sitting around watching people get pissed, which was pretty cool. Some people who don't normally come out were down, and I chatted with a load of people, stole a burger off gareth and generally messed around. Oh and I shot a load of people with my BB gun, which was a lot of fun. Especially shooting kent, I just wished it was a real gun. On sat a few people sat on the ski slope, played mario bros and got very stoned. It was orignially supposed to be some big ski slope party, but the organisation fell through it was just like ten people. On the way home I picked up a large traffic cone, which ended up on the roof of richy c's car. Funny stuff. The rest of the week went without particular incident, except when my uncle invited me to see the red hot chili peppers, which was awesome. Its been almost exactly two years since I saw them in hyde park. I think I had more fun the first time, and I was defiently into the chilis a lot more back then, as my music tastes have become more indie/metal since then, so chilis have been being ignored for a while. But it was still an awesome gig, and I was pretty close to the front. One day and one lesson left till summer begins properly!

Now theres a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky

As mentioned by Jenni, last friday Syd Barrett died. And as mentioned, Syd Barrett is very much an unsung hero. Musically, he was a genius. He would be well justified in saying that he made Pink Floyd, without his influence Pink Floyd would most probaly be the band they are today, and thats something we can all give thanks for. When I got the text from jenni in psy about Syd, I wasn't sure what to do. Unsuprisingly, as soon as I got out of the classroom I got out my iPod and starting playing Shine On You Crazy Diamond. And as it is a bit longer than my usual trip home, I had a little cycle around for half an hour or so. I can't claim to be as devestated as jenni is, as I know that she loves everything Pink Floyd more than I do, but I still consider myself a pretty big fan. And I think that its sad that Syd Barretts should pass on with such little recognition. Despite his decline thanks to LSD, the world has lost a great man in Syd Barrett. And so few people will realise. I'm not gonna do a lengthy post about it, as it would be pointless to try and out-do what jenni has already said. So I'll just get on with the events of the last week.

Generally, the week has been highly uneventful. Sports day on thursday was shit as usual, and I spent an hour or so cowering from the sun under an umbrella (gamers don't like sun, it creates glare on the screen which means you might not see that orc coming at you from the right, and it burns us precious). At about 5 I realised I still haven't made a toga for mikes, so I grabbed a sheet, then i grabbed a richy and we bopped over to mikes. It was a pretty cool evening, and seeing everyone in togas was pretty funny. Unusually, I didn't drink. I've decided to cut back a bit, as I do drink rather a lot. And also i need to save some money. Friday I sat at home all day, meaning that when Syd Barrett was dying I was probaly sitting on my sofa or playing Oblivion. Saturday I went adams, mucked around in the pool, watched Dr Who, and then had to walk alll the way home, which was like a 40 min walk. I hate walking. Sunday I played football, which was alright, except I fucked up my leg doing a slide tackle, which was a bit gay. Generally a pretty shite week. But the end of term is fast approaching. I should probaly start my psy cw draft...

I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

You know, this is possibly one of the best weeks of my life. I wasn't terribly happy for all of it, but seeing Roger Waters and The Who this weekend just made it awesome. On wednesday I had death cab for cutie, a band I have been looking forward to seeing. They were really good, even though they were somewhat overshadowed by the other gigs I went to in a few days time. The only missed one song that I wanted to hear, which was good. The gig was also jennis bday present, as I had bought her a tix aggesss ago. Thursday was of no interest, and friday I stayed home on account of I only had one lesson where we gonna be playing charades. That evening I went to hannahs party, got a little drunk and arrived home pretty late 'cause I stayed to help tidy up. And when I did try to leave I had to stop a drunk kate running out the front door. Funny stuff. Saturday came and it was Roger Waters time. Myself, jenni, ardy, dean and mike arrived in Hyde Park pretty late in the day, as there were no other good bands on really. We did try and see the Lightning Seeds, as the lead singer, and basically the person who is the Lightning Seeds, is my uncle. Or Ex-Uncle. Hes a serious workaholic and was never at home, so him and my aunt got a divorce. Unfortunately they were waiting for the football result until they started playing, so we had to leave. According to my mum and dad, they came on literally a couple of minutes after we left, and they managed to meet my aunt, who hasn't been in touch with us in years, pretty much since the divorce shes cut herself off from the family. We managed to get some pretty good places for Roger Waters, and spent the next two and a half hours being blown away by a musical and visual spectacular. Put simply, it was the best gig I had ever been to. We took a little rest outside hyde park before trekking it to Green Park station and going home. The next morning I failed at my plan of sleeping in, as it was too fucking hot. As a result I was knackered. At about 3 I left for hyde park again, but unfortunately this time I was all alone, as no-one else had tickets for both days. I watched Ocean Colour Scene and The Zutons with some friends of hannahs, but I only really knew one of them so I was kind of relieved when it was time to go see Primal Scream. Primal Scream were pretty cool from what i saw, but the crowd was massive and I only stayed for about half their set before moving off to get ready for the who and get a good place. And I did get a good place, a damn good place. I was further forward than I had been the day before, as its easier to get forward on you're own. But I did spent some of the gig being a bit far too the left of the stage. The night before, everyone, including myself, agreed that there was no way The Who could top Roger Waters. But they did. Or at least they were on par. Basically, Pink Floyd won in terms of the special effects and visual things, but The Who won on terms of sheer musical blowing you away. They played every great song, and I think "Love Reign O'er Me" was actually one of the best songs. And the amazing thing was that they kept going. I mean, they had no illusions, they knew they were old, and they even informed us of it. But the way they played didn't show it. Pete Townshend still played the guitar with all the energy of twenty years ago, and played a fair few amazing solos, and Roger Daltrey's voice never failed him once in the two hour or so set. Suffice to say, I had a damn good weekend. And even the worst conference ever at the worst university ever yesterday couldn't bring me down. Now I best go to school.
